Job Opportunities

Local Jobs for Local People

In addition to the opportunities available to companies to work as direct subcontractors of Ansaldo Honolulu JV, we encourage our subcontractors to make opportunities available to local residents for the many activities required for the successful construction of the core systems.  The Design-Build scope includes design and production of passenger vehicles, communications systems, train control, traction electrification, service vehicles and fare vending.  These activities began in 2011 and are slated to end in 2019, when the entire system is in full operation from East Kapolei to Ala Moana Shopping Center.  The Operate-Mantain scope includes the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the intermediate segments of the line between 2017 and 2019, then around the clock O&M between 2019 and 2029.

We have already hired some employees local to Oahu, and we will continue to do so.  Throughout both portions of this contract, Ansaldo Honolulu JV will create nearly 300 local jobs for local people.  These are career jobs that will enable families to pay their mortgage and put their kids through college.
